Qualification by a certified Passive House
A sample Passive House project according to the examination
regulations is a building which fulfils the following conditions:
- The building has been completed and is in constant use to
accommodate people (residential or non-residential).
- The building is a Quality Approved Passive House
certified by a certifying institution accredited by the PHI and in
accordance with the criteria
of the PHI. A copy of the certificate is delivered to the PHI with
the application.
- The PHPP calculation for the sample Passive House
project is made available to the PHI with the application in electronic
form (unprotected Excel file).
- A detailed object description is compiled for the building
according to the requirements for object documentation (
available soon). This is sent to the PHI in electronic form incl.
pictures. The PHI is granted the right to demand corrections in this
object description and to publish it on the internet.

Passive House Projects.
A designer files an application
to the PHI to issue the certificate "Certified Passive House Designer".
In the case of qualification by means of a sample project the following
must be enclosed with the application:
- Evidence of a sample Passive House project as defined above
and all required documents:
- Copy of the certificate and indication of the
certifying institution
- Electronic copy of the associated PHPP
- Electronic copy of the object description -

- The object’s ID number in the internet data
base

- confirmation by signature that the documented project was
planned by the applicant himself, responsibly.
If any of these details prove to be incorrect at a later stage, the
certificate may be denied/withdrawn. In severe cases the PHI reserves
the right to exclude applicants from the certification scheme for an
unlimited time.
The PHI shall, after receipt of the application, issue an invoice
for the processing fee according to the examination regulations. This
fee covers all services for the assessment the award of the
certificate, where appropriate, and registration on the online database
for five years. After this time period a renewal is possible. examination

The fee is due for the assessment - the certificate will only be
issued if all criteria are met. The applicant is solely responsible to
provide evidence.
